Pupil Premium Funding
Since September 2012, schools have been required to report on how their Pupil Premium Funds (PPF) have been deployed. Schools are also asked to track and report on the impact that PPF have had on student attainment. Looked-After Children, students who are eligible for Free School Meals and children of Service personnel are entitled to support from PPF. From 2012 this allocation also applies to any child who has ever had eligibility to Free School Meals benefits.
Haydock High School is committed to ensuring that all of our students strive to reach their potential. We do, however, recognise that some of our students are faced with challenging personal circumstances which can unfairly restrict their ability to fulfill their potential. PPF at Haydock High is used strategically and proactively to narrow any gaps in achievement that have existed, or threaten to do so in the future.
We have been working actively to narrow these gaps for different vulnerable groups at Haydock High, and a number of our initiatives are now integrated into the curriculum.
The Catch-up Premium for Y7 The literacy and numeracy catch-up premium gives state-funded schools, including special schools and alternative provision settings, additional funding to support year 7 pupils who did not achieve the expected standard in reading or maths at the end of key stage 2 (KS2). The grant may be spent by schools in many ways during year 7 to enable the students to ‘catch-up’ to their peers.
The DFE gives examples of strategies:
- individual tuition
- intensive small-group tuition
- external services and materials
- summer schools that help students catch up over a short period of time

Haydock Curriculum
The pace of curriculum change continues to accelerate, for example introducing a more flexible Key Stage 3. Our constant planning offers confidence for successful delivery and assessment of these areas.
Over the last few years we have been successful in achieving Sportsmark, Investors in People, Artsmark, Careers and Guidance and Healthy Schools accreditation. We were also awarded the accolade of a ‘Get Set’ school in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics.

Haydock Leisure Centre
Facilities With a £250,000 refurbishment in 2006, the PE department and Leisure Centre were refurbished to accommodate more people and classes, offering a wide range of activities to students and the wider community. The changing rooms are of a high standard with disabled access, automatic showers and private cubicles. Sports Hall The Sports Hall can accommodate the following: 5 a side football, whole Sports Hall Cricket, whole Sports Hall Badminton, whole or half Sports Hall Keep Fit and much more.
