Haydock High Celebrate Record GCSE Results

Haydock High students have once again risen to the challenge; the school is absolutely thrilled to report its best ever GCSE exam results.

We are delighted with the outstanding progress made by the students which captures our school’s ongoing focus on achievement and high standards. Some highlights include:

  • 23 grade 9s
  • 132 grades 8 and 9.
  • In English 75% of students achieved grade 4+ and 20% achieved grade 7+
  • In Science a tremendous two-thirds of students achieved grade 4+.

In addition, students collectively achieved over 100 distinction and distinction star grades in a range of qualifications with overall 46% of students achieving at least one GCSE grade 7-9 or the vocational equivalent.

Of particular note is the tremendous achievement of Francesca Dyson who achieved a phenomenal 8 grade 9s and two distinction stars.

  • Phoebe Kay, three 9s, three 8s, one 7 and a Distinction*
  • Kelsey Helsby, two 9s, two 7s and Distinction* and a Distinction
  • Olivia Wilton, two 9s, two 8s, two 7s, three Distinction*
  • Emma Farrugia, two 9s, four 8s, one 7

Haydock Curriculum

The pace of curriculum change continues to accelerate, for example introducing a more flexible Key Stage 3. Our constant planning offers confidence for successful delivery and assessment of these areas.

Over the last few years we have been successful in achieving Sportsmark, Investors in People, Artsmark, Careers and Guidance and Healthy Schools accreditation. We were also awarded the accolade of a ‘Get Set’ school in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics.

Haydock Leisure Centre

Facilities With a £250,000 refurbishment in 2006, the PE department and Leisure Centre were refurbished to accommodate more people and classes, offering a wide range of activities to students and the wider community. The changing rooms are of a high standard with disabled access, automatic showers and private cubicles. Sports Hall The Sports Hall can accommodate the following: 5 a side football, whole Sports Hall Cricket, whole Sports Hall Badminton, whole or half Sports Hall Keep Fit and much more.
