Haydock's Rugby Girls Success

Following the introduction of girl’s rugby at Haydock High a few years ago, we have seen the enthusiasm and popularity for the sport grow and this has been a particularly successful year.

As part of this ongoing rugby development, all girls have had the opportunity to play rugby as an addition to the school curriculum and this has led to over 80 girls representing the school through Rugby Union, Rugby League or O2 Touch Team.

Furthermore, approximately 35 of our students currently play for outside clubs including West Park St Helens, Liverpool St Helens and Haydock Rugby League from u13s to u18s. We are incredibly proud that five of our students also represented Lancashire this year in Rugby Union.

As a result of this success, predominantly in Rugby Union, Haydock High School was the first school to be awarded the David Herriman Trophy, which is the Lancashire Girls School of the Year Award, for the development of rugby.

This a wonderful achievement and we look forward to seeing the next chapter!

Haydock Curriculum

The pace of curriculum change continues to accelerate, for example introducing a more flexible Key Stage 3. Our constant planning offers confidence for successful delivery and assessment of these areas.

Over the last few years we have been successful in achieving Sportsmark, Investors in People, Artsmark, Careers and Guidance and Healthy Schools accreditation. We were also awarded the accolade of a ‘Get Set’ school in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics.
