Women's Boxing Success for Haydock High Sisters

Haydock High School sisters Ellie Rooney and Leah Telford are another great success story for their achievements in sport.
Both girls have had some wonderful successes in women’s boxing and are a great example of commitment and passion for their sport and the rewards it can bring! Training 4 times a week, they are a part of the ‘Wildcard’ club in Parr; Ellie has been boxing for 6 years and Leah for 3 years.
Most recently Ellie and Leah have travelled over to Ireland for a major boxing competition and have both come home with medals and certificates.
Both competed in the All Female Boxing Competition, with over 100 competitors. Ellie was the overall winner in her weight group and Leah picked up a medal for the runner up position in her weight.
Ellie has also won a further competition in the England Boxing – Women’s Winter Box Club.
A huge well done to both students and we wait for the next instalment!

Over the last few years we have been successful in achieving Sportsmark, Investors in People, Artsmark, Careers and Guidance and Healthy Schools accreditation. We were also awarded the accolade of a ‘Get Set’ school in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics.
