Success at the St Helens BASH Book Review Awards

On Thursday 30th March, Haydock High Student Bridie Bell was honoured at the Book Award St Helens (BASH) Celebration Event, with all students who took part in the BASH Awards Competition being invited to attend the event.
Lisa Williamson, a teenage writer, gave a performance and also announced the winning book for this year: “A Seven Letter Word” by Kim Slater. Year 9 Student Bridie Bell won 'Best Review' for “Am I Normal Yet?” by author Holly Bourne. This event marks the second year running that a Haydock High School student has won the 'Best Review' award, with Year 11 Student Megan Downey winning last year.
Mrs Bennett, School Librarian, said: “It was a fantastic afternoon and the book our students had voted for won this year’s BASH. I am so proud of our students and, particularly, Bridie for winning the “best review”, this is the second year running we have won and hopefully we can make it three in a row".
Everyone at Haydock high would like to congratulate Bridie and all students involved in the event; well done all!
