Sport Relief 2016

On Friday 18th March, Haydock High School supported the Sainsburys Sport Relief 2016 event. Students and staff had the opportunity during the day to take part in the one mile run/walk and although students wore their school uniform as normal on the day, they were able to dress up in something fun for the run and give a voluntary donation to the very worthy cause.

Various events took place during the day including:
- A Key Stage 3 assembly in the Sports Hall led by a Sky Sports Athlete
- Some Year 7 PE students took part in the mile run during first period
- All Year 9 students took part in the mile run during period 2
- All Year 8 students ran/walked their mile during period 3
- The remaining Year 7 students who wanted to join in were able to take part in the mile run during period 4

A Sainsburys representative attended the event and supplied free bottles of water for every participant and Easter egg prizes for the 'best dressed' and 'fastest runner'.

Staff were also asked to dress up and join in with the mile run too with donations of 50p/£1 being asked from all participants. Some students donated £10 - they have all been so generous!

A total of £275 was raised and this will all be going to Sport Relief to help charities in England.
