World Ward 1 Exhibition
On Saturday 10th November the Art department, in conjunction with Christ Church Haydock, held a World War I exhibition to remember the Armistice Centenary. Year 8 students have been working hard since summer to produce a variety of art works, including soldiers' marching boots, dazzle ships and war bunting. During workshops the Art department worked with our local primary schools and Lansbury Bridge students to create war horses with flags from commonwealth countries that fought in WW1 and stained glass window soldier silhouettes and poppies.
Historical information about Haydock soldiers and WW1 were also displayed, along with a period tea room that gave visitors a relaxing environment in which to enjoy free refreshments. A big thank you must go to Neve Cheetham who served the refreshments all day on Saturday.
Over 150 visitors came to the exhibition, and various primary school groups attended and took part in the activities included. We must thank the Armed Forces Covenant Trust who gave us ten of the “There but not There“ soldier silhouettes to represent the space left behind by soldiers who did not return.
On Sunday 11th November Sandra Morris, our Youth Pastor from Christ Church, was part of the peoples' march at the Cenotaph in London and laid a Commonwealth wreath made by Haydock students. The wreath recognised men from commonwealth countries that had been forgotten and never properly recognised for their war efforts.
Year 8 students visited the exhibition on Wednesday 14th November and extended their historical knowledge of WW1 by researching answers to questions from the exhibition.

Haydock Curriculum
The pace of curriculum change continues to accelerate, for example introducing a more flexible Key Stage 3. Our constant planning offers confidence for successful delivery and assessment of these areas.
Over the last few years we have been successful in achieving Sportsmark, Investors in People, Artsmark, Careers and Guidance and Healthy Schools accreditation. We were also awarded the accolade of a ‘Get Set’ school in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics.

Haydock Leisure Centre
Facilities With a £250,000 refurbishment in 2006, the PE department and Leisure Centre were refurbished to accommodate more people and classes, offering a wide range of activities to students and the wider community. The changing rooms are of a high standard with disabled access, automatic showers and private cubicles. Sports Hall The Sports Hall can accommodate the following: 5 a side football, whole Sports Hall Cricket, whole Sports Hall Badminton, whole or half Sports Hall Keep Fit and much more.
