Race for Life

Haydock High School are delighted to announce that a staggering total of £1952.23 was raised by staff and students who took part in the Race for Life on Wednesday 24th June 2015 as part of their involvement with National Sports Week.

Students set off from Haydock High School at 9.30am after having had an assembly with guest speaker Neil Danns, ex-European and British Champion skateboarder and now an athlete mentor for Sky Sports. Neil spoke to the students about how to achieve their best and encouraged them to try hard. Sky Sports Living for Sport is part of Sky Academy and is a free initiative open to all secondary schools across the UK and Ireland, developed in partnership with the Youth Sports Trust in 2003, which uses sport stars and sport skills to improve the lives of thousands of young people. Sky Sports Living for Sport Athlete Mentors continue to help inspire young people all across the UK through the power of sport and the positive role that sports can play.
All of the money raised from this event went to Cancer Research UK.

Well done to all who took part!

Over the last few years we have been successful in achieving Sportsmark, Investors in People, Artsmark, Careers and Guidance and Healthy Schools accreditation. We were also awarded the accolade of a ‘Get Set’ school in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics.
