Haydock High Student Volunteers to Keep Her Local Community Tidy

On Sunday 8th January 2017, a Haydock High student volunteered to venture out into the cold winter weather in order to clean up litter and maintain the environment in her local community.

As part of SCARS, the Sankey Canal Restoration Society, Year 8 student Rosie Bell ventured down the Sankey Canal in her local neighbourhood to pick litter and tidy up the communal paths so as to improve the environment for fellow residents. Overall she spent 3 hours of her Sunday being a conscientious and responsible member of society.

Mrs Heaton, Rosie's teacher and Head of Geography at Haydock High, said: “I was so impressed when Rosie explained to me how she had spent her weekend clearing the litter along the Sankey Valley canal. She had spent three hours on the Sunday voluntarily helping others in the community to support the conservation of the local environment. This kindness and respect for others and the surrounding area reflects Rosie’s positive attitude and caring nature towards everything that she does.”

Everyone at Haydock High would like to congratulate and thank Rosie for her hard work and consideration towards her local community and her local environment.
