Haydock High Celebrates GCSE Results Success

Haydock High School has experienced yet another set of excellent GCSE results for the 2015/2016 season. Our five A* - C figure with English and Maths increased by 6% on the 2014/2015 season. We experienced our best ever A/A* results at the school, with 12% of all grades achieved being A*/A’s.

Our English Department achieved 90% A*-C grades in English Literature, as well as 73% A*-C grades in English Language. Our Media Department achieved 100% A*-C grades, with Music achieving the same 100% A*-C grades with two-thirds of students passing with a Distinction. Our Philosophy and Ethics department also achieved brilliant results, with 73% of students passing at an A* to C level.

These excellent results are a testament to the hard work and commitment of both the students and staff at the school. Many of our 2015/2016 leavers have already transitioned onto the next step of their lives, either pursuing career choices or options of further education.

In regards to our results for 2015/2016, Headteacher Mr Murphy said: “We are very pleased and proud for our students as they move on to their next phase in their education. It is a privilege to see students grow and develop, and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with such a group of talented people. Our thanks go to all who contributed, and especially the teachers whose experience was invaluable and parents whose support was crucial. It is a partnership in the true sense of the word.”

We wish all of our 2015/2016 leavers the best in their future endeavours and urge our current Year 11’s to aim even higher than our 2015/2016 leavers did.

Over the last few years we have been successful in achieving Sportsmark, Investors in People, Artsmark, Careers and Guidance and Healthy Schools accreditation. We were also awarded the accolade of a ‘Get Set’ school in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics.
