Haydock High Students Recognised in Creative Writing Competition

Everyone at Haydock High School would like to congratulate students for their achievements in the St Helens Super Writer's Competition, a creative writing competition that took place in the St Helens area.

Year 9 student Phoebe Kay came in second place, winning a prize for herself and a gift certificate of £60, to go towards books in our school library, in recognition of her tremendous success in the competition. Congratulations also go to fellow Year 9 student Francesca Dyson and Year 8 student Emily Fairhurst, for their work being "Highly Commended", as well as to Year 9 students Finlay Murray and Louisa Cunningham, whose work also received commendation from the competition judges.

These students have all been invited to a celebration event at Chester Lane Library on Saturday 1st April 2017. The Mayor of St Helens will attend to present students from across St Helens prizes and certificates for their work in the competition.

Mrs Bennett, School Librarian, said: "I would like to congratulate our five winners in the St Helens Super Writer’s Competition and all our talented students who took part. I was so impressed by how imaginative and creative the stories were. It is extremely exciting for us at Haydock High School to have such gifted and talented students."

Our congratulations go to all of the students involved from Haydock High School, as well as students from schools across the borough.
