Boxing Success for Haydock High Student

Year 9 student Ellie Rooney has been successful at a boxing competition in Harrogate over the half term break. Ellie, who has been boxing outside of school competitively for 5 years, was victorious in both fights she took part in, eventually taking home a trophy and a shield from the competition.

Ellie hopes to continue her boxing through her time at school, doing the sport as one of her GCSE speciality sports, as well as continuing to pursue the sport after she eventually leaves high school in Year 11. Ellie was nominated for the 'Student of the Week' award in school by the PE department to recognise the brilliant success she has achieved over the half term break. Her success in boxing marks a significant year for students of Haydock High, where a number of year groups have excelled at a variety of sports.

Everyone at Haydock High School would like to congratulate Ellie on her success and we wish her the best of luck in her future fights as she progresses with the sport.
