Arriva Bus Company host an assembly on Public Transport Safety

On the 8th February 2017, Haydock High School’s Key Stage 3 assembly was delivered by the Arriva Bus Company’s School Liaison Officer, Brian Nicholas, and Assistant Operations Manager, Rebecca Harrison. They came to deliver a strong message about how to stay safe when travelling aboard the Arriva busses. Mr Nicholas and Mrs Harrison also talked about students’ code of conduct aboard public transport, explaining the consequences of poor decisions that can result in an accident or injury. They highlighted the point that the buses are a public service and used throughout the community and how they expect respect to be shown when using this vital public service.

Mrs Fletcher, Head of Citizenship at Haydock High, said “the assembly delivered a strong message about how to stay safe using public transport.” Reiterating one of the key values from the Haydock High Charter, she emphasised that “when using public transport students must demonstrate the highest standard of respect for other members of the school and the general public.”

Everyone at Haydock High School would like to thank the Arriva Bus Company for providing such vital information to our students on how to stay safe on public transport in Britain.
