Anti-Bully Week at Haydock High School
As part of the National Anti-Bully Week (16th - 20th November) Haydock High School have planned many activities some of which are detailed below.The key aims of the week are:
- To empower children and young people to make a noise about bullying - whether it is happening to them or to someone else, face to face or online;
- To help parents and carers have conversations with their children about bullying – both as a way of preventing bullying, and to help children who are worried about bullying;
- To encourage ‘talking schools’ where all children and young people are given a safe space to discuss bullying and other issues that affect their lives, and are supported to report all forms of bullying;
- To equip teachers to respond effectively when children tell them they’re being bullied; and
- To raise awareness of the impact of bullying on children’s lives if they don’t tell anyone it’s happening – or if they are not given appropriate support – with a focus on the impact on mental health
On Monday 16th Wish FM will be playing the advert which our students produced when they attended a workshop with the radio station and Year 8 students will take part in a workshop on racism with Merseyside Police.
Miss Dunn will take the Year assemblies based on anti-bullying. What bullying is and what students can do about it if it is happening to them or to others, either face to face or online. They can 'MAKE A NOISE'.
Every year group will be allocated a key word from the school charter:
Year 7 - Kindness
Year 8 - Honesty
Year 9 - Respect
Year 10 - Trust
Year 11 - Tolerance
In form time students will produce hands with messages on them based on the key word; and how they are going to fulfil the school value linking it to anti-bully week. This will empower students to take the lead in speaking up about bullying. Each year group will have different coloured paper for the hands and these will be used in a display in student services.
Year 9 and Year 11 students to be encouraged to write an anti-bully message to put on the school website and at the end of the week there will be an Anti-Bully Week assembly with Mr Carter providing something musical to celebrate the week's activities.

Haydock Curriculum
The pace of curriculum change continues to accelerate, for example introducing a more flexible Key Stage 3. Our constant planning offers confidence for successful delivery and assessment of these areas.
Over the last few years we have been successful in achieving Sportsmark, Investors in People, Artsmark, Careers and Guidance and Healthy Schools accreditation. We were also awarded the accolade of a ‘Get Set’ school in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics.

Haydock Leisure Centre
Facilities With a £250,000 refurbishment in 2006, the PE department and Leisure Centre were refurbished to accommodate more people and classes, offering a wide range of activities to students and the wider community. The changing rooms are of a high standard with disabled access, automatic showers and private cubicles. Sports Hall The Sports Hall can accommodate the following: 5 a side football, whole Sports Hall Cricket, whole Sports Hall Badminton, whole or half Sports Hall Keep Fit and much more.
