Haydock Makes a Stand Against Knife Crime

In the words of Ben E King ‘Stand By Me’ was the message in our No More Knives assembly for Year 7 and 8 students on Friday 5th April.

Teachers and students came together to film a piece to show their support for the Anti Knife Crime campaign, which has been using the ‘Stand By Me’ message throughout local schools, colleges and businesses.

St Helen’s College nominated Haydock High to help spread the message and remember those that have already lost their lives, including 3 local victims, one of whom was a St Helen’s College student.

With the rise of knife crime over the last 18 months, we all have a responsibility to make sure that  members of our communities feel safe and students are aware of the impact that carrying weapons can have on all of those involved.

It was wonderful to hear the students singing those important lyrics and passing on the message to Saints Rugby League, who we have now nominated to join the cause.

Thank you to all of those who took part; Haydock School Choir and Mr Watkins for organising the performance.

Haydock Curriculum

The pace of curriculum change continues to accelerate, for example introducing a more flexible Key Stage 3. Our constant planning offers confidence for successful delivery and assessment of these areas.

Over the last few years we have been successful in achieving Sportsmark, Investors in People, Artsmark, Careers and Guidance and Healthy Schools accreditation. We were also awarded the accolade of a ‘Get Set’ school in the run-up to the 2012 London Olympics.
