Careers and Enterprise

Young people are faced with a complex set of demands when making themselves ready for their future careers. Haydock High School aims to ensure that our students are self-confident, skilled and career-ready. This is achieved through a programme of high quality activities, advice and guidance.

Haydock High School has a number of statutory duties in relation to careers guidance (DfE Careers guidance and access for educations and training providers December 2018). This includes the following:

  • We provide independent careers guidance from Years 8 to 11, as well as Enterprise activities throughout all years.
  • We ensure there is an opportunity for a range of education and training providers to access all students in Years 8 to 11
  • We use the Gatsby Benchmarks to improve careers provision
  • Our Careers Guidance is based on a partnership with students and their parents or carers. Our programme raises aspirations, challenges stereotyping and actively promotes equality and diversity.

CEIAG is reviewed annually and developments implemented before the start of each new academic year.

Our commitment to our students’ development does not end when they leave us; we monitor and track the post 16 destinations of Year 11 leavers to inform our planning and develop our careers programme, to build a better programme of support and guidance for all.

Our Careers programme aims to ensure that every young person has an offer of employment, education or training in place by the time they leave school. The 2017 September Guarantee performance for Haydock High is that 99.07% of Year 11 young people received an offer which is higher than the local authority out-turn.

You can find out about more about our aims in our Careers Policy.

Career Connect

All students at Haydock High have access to Career Connect support and guidance, through either one to one meetings, in Years 9 to 11, or drop in sessions. Our Career Connect advisor is also available during parent evenings, option evening and aspiration evening. If parents wish to make an appointment with their child this can be arranged by contacting the Head of Year, Head of Achievement or Careers Advisor (Mrs J. Tinsley) in school.

There is a central Career Connect email and inbox for schools, pupils and their parents to send in general queries. The email address is schoolsinfo@careerconnect.org.uk

if you have any specific enquires for Alison Bellmon you can also email alison.bellmon@careerconnect.org.uk and I she will pick up any queries and get back to you.

Enabling Enterprise and Skillsbuilder

Through this your child will develop and embed a deeper understanding and experience of the world of work, colleges, and universities, while developing many transferable skills.
